Recently I had to buy a succession of birthday presents (yes, birthdays, not christmas). It can sometimes be difficult to part with birthday gifts, In all honestly, I'm not a particularly good present buyer in all. I'm not so sure about the old theory that you should buy things you like, it makes giving the present difficult. I countered this by also giving myself a gift; a lovely brooch from the 20s-30s!
